Helicopter used to apprehend suspects

Two Elk Grove men were arrested last night after being involved in an accident and assaulting a witness.

According to Elk Grove Police, 32-year-old Johnny Montes was driving a car that was involved in an accident near Bibly Road and Willard Parkway. Montes and his passenger 41-year old Howard Inglish left the vehicle and fled the area on foot.

A person who witnessed the accident gave chase to both suspects as they fled the area. When the male witness cornered the suspects, Inglish punched him in the head.

With the assistance of a helicopter, the suspects were located and both displayed objective signs of impairment. After the assault victim signed a citizen's arrest for the attack, both were transferred to the county jail.
