SMUD Lures Anglers to Annual Rancho Seco Trout Derby

A lake full of trout is up for grabs at SMUD’s annual trout derby at Rancho Seco Recreational Area. Rancho Seco Lake has been newly stocked with 3,500 pounds of trout in anticipation of a big crowd. Anglers reeling in the heaviest trout will be awarded cash prizes – up to $100 for adults, $50 for youths (11 – 16 years) and $35 for kids (10 and under).

The fishing event has become a tradition for many and has attracted thousands of local anglers since starting in 1993.
