The Elk Grove Police responded to four shoplifting incidents yesterday one of which involved the assault of a store employee.
According to police reports, 52-year old Arthur Scurry of Elk Grove was observed shoplifting at the SaveMart grocery store on Laguna Blvd by a loss prevention employee. When Scurry left the store, he was approached by the employee.
Upon contact Scurry reportedly punched the employee in the face as the employee attempted to detain him. The suspect fled the area on foot and was located by responding officers.
A records check found Scurry to have several outstanding active warrants out for his arrest. The suspect was arrested and transferred to the county jail.
In the second case two Sacramento women, 21-year old Cynthia Myers and 22-year old Tiffany Reed were issued a petty theft misdemeanor citations after they were caught shoplifting from the Wal Mart store. Both suspect had left the store in a car and were apprehended by responding officers.
A 17-year old male juvenile was issued a misdemeanor citation on suspicion of shoplifting at the Rite Aid store on the Elk Grove Blvd. The suspect was released to his mother.
In the final incident of the day 37-year old Marlon Gomes was arrested after being detained by security personnel at the Nugget store on Laguan Blvd. A record search revealed the suspect also had two active warrants for his arrest.
