Elk Grove Police Investigate Late Night Shooting

At 11:14 p.m. last night Elk Grove Police responded to the 7000 block of Verdure Way regarding a shooting. The caller indicated that her 18-year-old brother had been shot and was being transported to the hospital by her mother.

Officers responded to the hospital in an effort to gather additional information from the victim. Upon arrival at the hospital, officers determined that the victim had been shot in the stomach and forearm.

Officers also determined that that the shooting took place near the intersection of Springmont Dr. and Plume Way and additional officers were dispatchted to this location and discovered physical evidence related to the shooting.

Also located was a blood trail that led them to the victim’s residence on Verdure Way. At this time, the victim’s injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

Based on information obtained while canvassing the area, it appears that the victim was involved in a verbal argument with two or three African-American males prior to being shot. After the shooting, the suspects were seen leaving the area is a dark colored four-door American made vehicle. At this time, detectives have not established a motive for the shooting.
