Sacramento County has approved the initial plans for a new CarMax Auto Superstore planned for 8105-8141 East Stockton Blvd north of Calvine Road. The 19-plus acre project will bring more than 120 new jobs to the region.

“This project will add to the County’s economic base within the South Sacramento community and generate much needed sales tax revenue,“ said Jimmie Yee, Supervisor for District 2. “With easy access to the freeways, this is an ideal site for car sales.”

The facility will be constructed in two phases, the first consisting of a 20,000- square foot sales and presentation building, a service building, car wash, and parking lots with the second phases including the expansion of the service building and car wash.

The project is a said to be a well-designed asset to the area and is compatible with adjacent business and residences.

The South Sacramento community voiced support for the project with a unanimous recommendation for approval by the South Sacramento Community Planning Advisory Council.

Not good news for our auto mall. Since our auto mall sells more used cars than new, this will cut into EG sales tax. CarMax is one of the biggest used car dealers in the US....they have the volume to undercut most new car dealers..I hope EG Auto Mall executives come up with a plan of action or dealerships like Ford will once again be closing down.
