A 51-year old Elk Grove mother was hospitalized yesterday after being assaulted by her 11-year old son.
According to Elk Grove Police, the mother was allegedly lashed several times with an electrical extension cord by her son. The mother has a pre-existing medical condition that her son was providing care for.
During the course of the investigation, officers determined that the victim has been assaulted by her son on numerous occasions. The juvenile suspect was taken into custody and transferred to juvenile hall.
The victim was taken to an area hospital for treatment.

Not to condone what the boy did, but something is seriously wrong when an 11-year-old is the listed care-giver for their 51-year-old parent.
Does this child go to school? Are there other children in the home? If so, how old are they? If younger than 11 years old then this young man is also the care-giver for these minor children as well.
We as adults have significant problems and issues with being the care-giver for our adult parents. Who in their right mind thought it was okay for an 11-year-old to be the care-giver for his adult parent? Quite honestly, I think this is bordering on child abuse.
