In the hotly contested race for the Area 6 Trustee seat of the Elk Grove Unified School District, challenger Steve Ly is leading incumbent Jake Rambo in at least one category - fundraising.

In financial disclosure statements filed with the Sacramento County Registar of Voters, Ly and Rambo report they have raised $26,568 and $8,780 respectively through Oct. 20.

Ly reports direct cash contributions of $24,068 and $2,500 in loans while Rambo raised $5,580 and has loaned his campaign $3,200. Ly has received $3,341 in non-monetary contributions while Rambo has received $5,875.

Among notable donations to Rambo include $1,000 from the American Sikh PAC and $500 from the Sacramento Deputy Sheriff's Association PAC. Rambo also received $100 from former EGUSD board member Brian Myers and $150 from his current school board colleague and Area 7 candidate Al Rowlett.

While Ly received $500 from Plumbers and Pipefitters Local 447, he tapped a wide network of out-of-area individual donors from Fresno, Clovis and from Minnesota and Wisconsin. Although Ly has been endorsed by Elk Grove City Council Member and mayoral candidate Gary Davis, he did not receive donations from Davis during the current filing period.
