Elk Grove Police are investigating an attempted sexual assault that took place Sunday night.
According to police reports, the attempted assault took place in the parking lot of the softball complex at the Elk Grove Regional Park. A 37-year-old female victim was leaning into the back seat of her parked vehicle when an unknown male attacked her from behind and attempted to sexually assault her.
The Victim was able to defend herself by pushing and punching the suspect several times in the body and face. The suspect fled on foot and was last seen running north through the park.
The suspect was described as a Caucasian or Hispanic male adult, 5’9”, 165 lbs., approximately 30 to 40 years of age, with short dark messy hair, a “5 o’clock shadow” and was wearing a black sweatshirt.
Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to call the Elk Grove Police Department Detective Bureau at (916) 478-8060 or Crime Alert at (916) 443-HELP (4357).
