A carjacking suspect was arrested yesterday afternoon by Elk Grove Police after a short foot pursuit.
According to police reports, 30-year old Brandon Couch-Johnson of Sacramento was observed operating a vehicle on the 5000 block of Francesca St. that was reported to be stolen in a carjacking. Officers observed the suspect park, then exit the vehicle and was then approached by officers who drew their weapons and directed him to stop.
Couch-Johnson did not follow directives and fled on foot into a residential area. The suspect was subsequently located hiding in the front yard of a residence and was taken into custody without incident.
A search of Couch-Johnson led to the discovery of narcotics and narcotic paraphernalia and a records check revealed that he also had two active felony warrants out for his arrest.
Couch-Johnson was arrested and taken to the county jail where he remains in custody on 12 various charges.
