A Sacramento man suspected of shoplifting at an Elk Grove store was also found to be driving a stolen getaway car when he was arrested Saturday night.

According to Elk Grove Police, 26-year old Vu Vang was observed shoplifting at the Kohl's store on Bruceville Road. Vang then exited the store with the stolen merchandise and fled in a vehicle. 

Loss prevention personnel obtained a license plate number of the vehicle  and responding officers located the vehicle traveling northbound on Hwy. 99 from the Bond Rd. on-ramp. Officers conducted a vehicle stop and detained the suspect. 

The stolen merchandise was recovered inside the vehicle and loss prevention personnel positively Vang as the person responsible for the theft. Further investigation revealed that the vehicle the suspect was driving was stolen. 

Vang was arrested taken to the county jail where he remains in custody on five charges including parole violations.

Headline made me laugh...maybe should have been "SUSPECTED SHOPLIFTER IN STOLEN CAR CAUGHT BY EGPD"?
