A shoplifting incident in Elk Grove led to the arrest of three juveniles and one adult on a variety of criminal charges.

According to Elk Grove Police, officers were dispatched to the Burlington Coat Factory store on East Stockton Blvd. early yesterday afternoon regarding a reported shoplifting incident. A loss prevention employee observed two males flee the with merchandise then drive away in a silver Chevy Cruze.

Responding officers located the described vehicle traveling northbound on Highway 99 and a records check of the license plate revealed that the Chevy Cruze had been reported stolen by CHP. Officers initiated a felony vehicle stop when the vehicle exited Florin Road and pulled into a parking lot.

The occupants were detained and the witnesses were transported to the store were the two juvenile suspects aged 15 and 14 were positively identified as the individuals suspected of the theft. The 14-year old also had an active felony warrant.

A third suspect, a 17-year old male juvenile Sacramento resident was the driver of the stolen vehicle when officer initiated the vehicle stop. A records check revealed that a fourth suspect, 18-year old Jessica Wardlaw of Sacramento had an active felony warrant.

Wardlaw was was arrested and taken to the county jail. The three juvenile males were taken into custody then taken to juvenile hall. The stolen vehicle was returned to the owner and the stolen merchandise was recovered then returned to the store.
