An Elk Grove man was arrested yesterday afternoon after he allegedly threatened to use a sledgehammer and loaded gun in a domestic violence incident.

According to Elk Grove Police, 27-year old Aaron Araiza and his victim had been involved in a dispute for several days that led to several physical confrontations. During the altercations, the suspect reportedly punched the victim several times in the arm and pushed the victim down some stairs resulting in visible injuries.

Araiza also pointed a handgun and attempted to hit the victim with a sledgehammer. The suspect left the locations and was later found in a vehicle where police recovered a loaded handgun.

The suspect was arrested then transported to the county jail. The victim was granted an emergency protective order.
