The Elk Grove Police Department is partnering with Jiffy Lube to host a free catalytic converter etching event. The event will take place on Sunday, October 13, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Jiffy Lube at the Elk Grove Auto Mall,  9611 Auto Center Drive.

During the "Etch and Catch" event, your vehicle's license plate number will be etched onto your catalytic converter(s). The etching may deter thieves from stealing your converter. The presence of license plate numbers on catalytic converters can also provide law enforcement with the information needed to identify stolen property, contact victims, and apprehend criminals.

This free “Etch and Catch” event will be held on a first come, first served basis.  The event is open to residents of all cities and no appointment is necessary.
