Elk Grove Police and Cosumnes Community Service firefighters were dispatched to an illegal campfire last night.

According to police reports, 52-year old Jose Santos of Elk Grove was found under a bridge on Bruceville Road near Sheldon Road where he allegedly built a campfire.

With the assistance of firefighters, the suspect extinguished the fire and a consent search of Santos' backpack revealed narcotics paraphernalia. The suspect was issued a misdemeanor citation and released.

No kidding, I was driving southbound on Bruceville on my way home just a short while ago and a man just staggered right across the road in heavy traffic right near this spot. It is a wonder he made it across the road.

I wonder if that little bridge area along Bruceville is a gathering spot for homeless people. The unfortunate gentleman appeared a bit scruffy and very disoriented.
