Chances are you may have heard about a new education initiative, the so-called Common Core curriculum, but are not sure what it is all about. To answer many of the questions parents may have, a forum will be held in Elk Grove tonight to discuss this.

Common Core is "a U.S. education initiative that seeks to bring diverse state curricula into alignment with each other by following the principles of standards-based education reform. The initiative is sponsored by the National Governors Association (NGA) and the Council of Chief State School Officers (CCSSO)."

Tonight's forum will feature a panel discussion which will include experts from both sides of the issue who will debate the initiative. Some of the panelist include Dr. Stephen Ladd, Superintendent of Elk Grove Unified School District and Williamson M. Evers of the Hoover Institute.

Tonight's panel is sponsored by Concerned Parents of Elk Grove and will be held at the Holiday Inn Express on Laguna Blvd. and Highway 99 in Elk Grove. The two hour forum starts at 7 p.m. and is open to the public.
