Duo Convicted of Murdering Wilton Man, Marijuana Theft

On Wednesday  Sacramento County District Attorney Jan Scully announced the convictions of Kailan James and Danny Valine by two separate juries for the shooting death and marijuana theft of 60-year-old Kelly McClurg. 
Kailan James

James was convicted of first degree murder with a felony murder special circumstance and first degree robbery. On Wednesday Valine was convicted of second degree murder with arming enhancements. 

On October 26, 2012, Mr . McClurg was shot and killed in his Wilton home as a result of the theft of a few pounds of marijuana that Mr. McClurg had grown for hi s own personal use. James faces a potential sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole. Valine faces a potential sentence of 40 years to life in prison. 

Both defendants are scheduled to be sentenced on December 6, 2013 in Department 14 before the Honorable Eugene Balonon.
