A man was robbed at gunpoint last night in the parking lot of the Winco store on Sheldon Road.

According to Elk Grove Police, the 66-year old victim was sitting in his vehicle after shopping when an unknown suspect opened the passenger side door, displayed a handgun and demanded personal property. After the victim complied, the suspect fled on foot with a cell phone and money.

The suspect was described as a black male adult with light complexion, 19-21 years of age and was wearing a dark hooded sweatshirt over his head. The victim was not injured and responding officers were unable to locate the suspect.

Economic development, one stolen cell phone at a time. The New South Sac.

So sad. Now I worry about my loved one that shop there on a regular basis. Careful!

I have lived all my adult life in South Sac and Elk Grove and as much as I hate to say it, I left South Sac for many of these type of things we now see creeping into Elk Grove. No mistaking these trends are working south. Winco is on the northern edge after all and I am afraid this is not stopping at Sheldon or Calvine Roads either. As much as I admire our police department and in spite of what our city leaders insist, this is a troubling trend that will not get any better with size.
