An Elk Grove family was terrorized early Sunday morning by armed gunmen who staged a home invasion robbery.

According to police, officers were dispatched to the 8600 block of Rubia Drive in Elk Grove's rural Sheldon area after one of the five victims called regarding a residential robbery. The family was inside the residence when three unknown Caucasian male suspects entered by kicking in the front door.

The three suspects were armed with assault rifles and a shotgun and gathered all of the family members into one room and bound their hands. The suspects were described a Caucasian male adults who were wearing all black law enforcement style clothing.

The first suspect was described as being 5`8" and 180 lbs; the second was described as being 5`10" with a medium build and the third was described as being 6'2" and 240 lbs. The father of the family was struck in the head with the butt of the rifle then punched and kicked in the face and head.

The suspects fled the residence with a blue bag containing approximately two pounds of processed marijuana. No one else was injured during the robbery.

The father was transported to a local area hospital for medical treatment. Officer canvassed the area but were unable to locate the suspects.
