The City of Elk Grove is now accepting applications for vacancies on the Planning Commission and Multicultural Committee. 

The Planning Commission is tasked with reviewing and approving a wide variety of planning applications, and making recommendations to the City Council on zone changes, General Plan amendments, and other municipal planning matters. The vacancy was created by the resignation of Brian Villanueva following his move out of Elk Grove.

The Multicultural Committee is responsible for planning an annual Elk Grove multicultural festival, educating the community about the City’s rich cultural diversity and providing guidance to the City Council on issues impacting multicultural communities. 

The Planning Commission is comprised of five members with one currently vacant seat, and the Multicultural Committee is comprised of ten members, with one currently vacant seat. 

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age, reside in the City of Elk Grove, and be registered to vote.  The appointments will be made by Mayor Gary Davis with the approval of the City Council. 

Planning Commission meetings are held twice monthly on the first and third Thursday of the month at 6:30 p.m.  Multicultural Committee meetings are held one time per month on the third Tuesday of the month at 6 p.m. Both meetings are held in the Council Chambers at 8400 Laguna Palms Way, Elk Grove. 

Applications for the Planning Commission are due by Jan. 2, 2014.   Applications for the Multicultural Committee are due by Jan. 15, 2014.  The applications are available at http://www.elkgrovecity.org/council/member-vacancies.asp.  For more information contact City Clerk Jason Lindgren at 916-478-2286 or jlindgren@elkgrovecity.org.
