Four men were arrested in Elk Grove after police responded to calls of gunshots early Friday evening.

According to Elk Grove Police Department reports, officers responded to Terra Linda Court and Via Court after receiving reports of gunfire in the area.  Officers located the car in the area and saw 24-year old Leslie Butler of Sacramento exit the car.

Police also saw 21-year old Neandre Benson of Elk Grove and 19-year old James Jones nearby and 21-year old Steven Watts of Hayward, Calif., in the rear seat with an infant.  Officers detained Butler and Watts and found that Watts was on probation.

A probation search of the vehicle and found an unregistered handgun next to the infant and controlled substances. Benson returned to car and was detained while Jones was located at a nearby residence and was found to be on probation.

All four were arrested and taken to the county jail where they remain in custody. The infant was released to a relative.
