Next Wednesday night the Elk Grove City Council will consider whether or not one of the city's three Walmart stores can sell beer and malt liquor products.

The item will be heard after the Walmart at 8465 Elk Grove Boulevard applied with the Alcohol Beverage Commission (ABC) seeking to repeal a condition preventing them from selling beer and malt products. If Walmart's application is approved, the store could commence selling the products along with their currently permitted sales of wine and hard liquor.

The store was granted its off-premise license in 1999 before the city incorporated. If the city declines the application, Walmart can appeal to the ABC.

The staff report recommends removal of the condition so Walmart can sell the two products.

Why the h--- not, the city has already sold it's soul to the highest bidder. The only thing missing will be a Beer Garden in the parking lot and wet T-shirt contests every weekend. Pack it up and let'em roll!

I'm all for that! In fact let's just bypass the whole Agenda and make one motion to just cover the whole mess and take a vote and Adjourn the meeting to BJ's for a tall-cold one.

Ideally located for all the soccer fans going to the MLS stadium on Grantline. Stop and get all your Guinness, get drunked up and throw p@ss bombs at the match.
