The Food Literacy Center, partnering with the Sacramento farm-to-fork initiative, brings 10 straight days of film and food pairings to the region with the 4th annual Sacramento Food Film Festival. The 10-day festival will showcase the culinary creativity of some of the best local chefs and the talents of some of the most innovative filmmakers.

The festival seeks to bring educational films to our region otherwise overlooked by traditional theaters. “It is our hope to create a community dialog surrounding the growing topic of our nation’s food system, and to inspire action towards improving it,” said Amber Stott, founder of Food Literacy Center.

The festival includes 3 more screenings than last year and will premiere the evening of Thursday, March 19th with an exclusive screening of the festival’s winning short films. The 10-day celebration will wrap the afternoon of Sunday, March 29th with a screening of a new documentary film about farm workers, followed by an expert panel discussion on farm workers’ rights – to include the Director of the film amongst the panelists.

Each day of the festival holds a theme, which is food or film related, hosted by various restaurants and venues throughout the downtown Sacramento area - sponsored by many generous local businesses.

“The Sacramento Food Film Festival is reflective of the rich culinary culture that the Sacramento region offers,” said Nicole Rogers, director of the farm-to-fork program at the Sacramento Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Beyond enjoying world-class meals in America’s Farm-to-Fork Capital, the community can take part in events like the Food Film Festival and learn more about the agricultural and food-based issues that are facing our region and the world.”
