Adding to the massive $166,000 she already received from her husband's employer, Sacramento County Board of Education Area 6 candidate Heather Davis raked in a few more thousand dollars on the last full day of the race.

According to documents filed late this afternoon, Davis, the wife of Elk Grove Mayor Gary Davis, rang up another $2,000 in donations. from the Parent Teacher Alliance independent expenditure committee. That committee is funded by the California Charter School Association, the employer of Mayor Davis and has been the main contributors to Heather Davis' campaign.

Along with EdVoice, another charter school advocacy group and former employer of Mayor Davis, the California Charter School Association have poured millions of dollars into several California State Assembly and school board races for tomorrow's statewide primary. The Parent Teacher Alliance has given Davis over $168,000 for a race that normally receives scant attention.

In addition to several slick mailers, the money from the charter school advocacy group allowed Davis to hire precinct walker that reportedly were paid $15 hour for their services. The door hanger distributed by the precinct walkers included a pink pencil which was reminiscent of the potted plants Mayor Davis' political protege, Elk Grove Councilman Steve Ly, passed out to women voters in 2014.

Polls open at 7 a.m. tomorrow.

Using the endorsement of a group who also uses the initials PTA, but not to be confused with the famous and well known Parent Teacher Association, is slick and misleading. Glad she's not giving out apples with those corny pencils, because the worm has revealed itself.
