July 11, 2016 |

The executive director of the Sacramento-based Asian Resource Community Services  will be the guest speaker at tomorrow's monthly meeting of the Elk Grove-South County Democratic Club.

Speaking to the club will be Stephanie Nguyen who leads the non-profit agency that offers an array of services to a wide variety of recently arrived immigrants and refugees. Although the group was established over 35 years ago primarily to assist clients from Southeast Asia, over the years the ARS has assisted a wide variety of immigrants, among them most recently are Middle Eastern refugees.

While having served on various councils, including the Pacific Rim Street Festival Foundation, she is now on the Sheriff’s Community Advisory Board, and is the Secretary for the Council of Asian Pacific Islanders Together for Advocacy and Leadership (CAPITAL). Additionally Nguyen is an advisor to the Full Circle Project and a member of the Juvenile Justice Commission and the Delinquency Prevention Council.

Tomorrow's meeting will be held at the Elk Grove Public Library, Elk Grove Boulevard and Elk Grove-Florin Road, starting at 6:30 p.m. The public is welcome and for more information contact club President Dan Schmitt at (916) 687-8744 or egscdems@gmail.com.
