Elk Grove Police Investigate Attempted Sexual Assault Near City Park

Elk Grove Police are investigating an attempted sexual assault that occurred this morning near a city park.

According to police reports, the 58-year old female victim was jogging on a bike path near Betschart Park on the 5600 block of the Adobe Spring Way when she was approached from behind by an unknown suspect who first grabbed the victim's buttocks.

When the victim turned around, she discovered that the suspect's pants were down and he was exposing himself. As the victim began to walk away, the suspect grabbed the victim by the shoulders and attempted to pull her into some nearby shrubs.

While being pulled, the victim screamed for help and resisted the suspect’s efforts. During the struggle, the suspect pulled down the lower portion of the victim’s clothing.

As the victim continued to scream for help, the suspect let go of the victim then ran away in a southbound direction. The victim suffered minor injuries that did not require medical treatment.

The suspect was described as an African-American male juvenile or adult (16-19), 5’9” to 6’0”, 160 to 180 lbs., with a muscular build. He was wearing a dark gray shirt and black athletic pants.

With the assistance of a composite sketch artist, a sketch of the suspect was created (see above).
