A domestic violence suspect who had barricaded himself and approached Elk Grove Police officers armed with knives, surrendered after non-lethal weapons were deployed on Friday night.

Just before 10 p.m. on November 18 officers were dispatched to a domestic violence incident. Upon arrival, officers learned that the suspect, 46-year old Thomas Milne of Elk Grove, was involved in a physical altercation with his victim.

After calling police, the victim was restrained by Milne who refused to allow the victim to leave the dwelling. The victim was able to escape the residence and was contacted by responding officers.

When officers attempted to contact Milne, he barricaded himself in the residence and officers observed that he was suffering from self-inflicted injuries to his wrists. As officers were attempting to make contact with Milne, who came out of his room and moved toward officers while holding two large knives in a threatening manner.

Milne did this twice, and each time an officer deployed beanbag rounds striking him twice. eventually Milne surrendered and was transported to a local area hospital for medical treatment.

Milne was arrested, booked into the county jail, and has been released.
