Elk Grove's Sophia Scherman Reenters Elected Office, Wins Seat on Florin Resources Board

Former Elk Grove City Council Member Sophia Scherman has reentered elected office as the winner of one of the two seats on the ballot for the Florin Resources Conservation District. 

According to results posted as of 1:30 a.m. today, Scherman received 17,534 votes to come in second place. The other candidate winning a seat was Lisa Medina who earned 25,540 votes. Incumbent Eliot Mulberg lost his reelection bid coming in third place with 15,494 votes.

Scherman was one of the original five City Council members elected when Elk Grove incorporated in 2000. The district she represented was drawn out existence forthe 2012 election when Elk Grove voters decided to have a directly elected Mayor.

That same year Scherman unsuccessfully ran in the primary as a Republican in the California State Assembly and in the general election for Elk Grove Mayor.  

Among its missions, the FRCD also owns and operates the Elk Grove Water Company which provides service for a large portion of the City, primarily east of Highway 99.
