Suspect Voluntarily Turns Himself In For North Sacramento Hit and Run Fatality

A suspect wanted in connection with a hit and run collision that left a bicyclist dead has voluntarily turned himself in today.

The suspect, Wilfredo Cortes, 47, of Sacramento, was arrested and charged in the Wednesday night incident that killed a yet to be identified bicyclist. According to Sacramento Police, the victim was hit by a truck allegedly being driven by Cortes on Marysville Boulevard.

Cortes did not stop and medical personnel pronounced the victim dead at the scene. The Sacramento Police initiated an investigation and used social media to show the images of the vehicle captured on a surveillance camera.

The suspect has been booked into the Sacramento County Jail where he is charged with felony hit and run causing death with set at $75,000 bail. Arraignment is scheduled fore Tuesday, March 21.
