Two Shoplifting Suspects Arrested by Elk Grove Police, One Held on $1 Mllion Bail

Two men are being held at the Sacramento County Jail after they allegedly were caught shoplifting and tried attacking an Elk Grove store employee.

At 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 9, Shane Michael Russ (above left), 21 of Olivehurst, Calif., and Christopher Glen Russ(above right), 27, were observed shoplifting at the Nugget grocery on Elk Grove Boulevard. After leaving the store without paying for her merchandise, the two men were approached by a store security guard and a store employee who attempted to detain them. 

While the employees were attempting to detain Shane Michael Russ, Christopher Glen Russ ran towards the security guard and attempted to assault him with a glass bottle. The security guard was not injured. 

Both suspects were able to get away from the employees and responding Elk Grove Police officers located and detained the suspects a short distance away. The suspects were positively identified as being responsible for the theft. 

Both suspects were arrested and booked into the county jail and according to Sacramento County Sheriff's inmate information Shane Michael Russ is being being held on $50,000 bail while Christopher Glen Russ on $1 million. Arraignment for both men is scheduled for Friday, March 10.
