Six members of the Elk Grove Police K-9 Association, along with their four-legged partners, recently made a large donation to the Elk Grove Food Bank. The donation included 255 pounds of frozen meat.

Using excess funds from a retired K-9 account, the association members used those funds to purchase meat at the Sacramento County Fair. This year a pig raised by the Sheldon 4H project was purchased and processed at Kountry Meats.

The frozen pork will used to service the Food Bank's Senior Brown Bag clients.

“With a growing number of senior clients and their dietary needs requiring more lean meats, we are pleased to have them available,” Executive Director Marie Jachino said. “This donation helps feed the local seniors seeking food assistance. We are thankful for the Elk Grove K-9 Association’s continued generosity.

The Elk Grove Police Officers and their K-9 partners that visited Food Bank to make the donations were Officer Jason Miller and K9 Blu; Officer Dan Emerson and K9 Roman; Officer Tisha Smith and K9 Kye; Officer Joey Gregorio and K9 Argo; Officer Hector Villarreal and K9 Alex; and Officer Jarrod Perez and K9 Drax.
