Police Investigating Shooting That Leaves One Dead in Elk Grove

A shooting that left one person dead is under investigation by Elk Grove Police.

According to a press release issued this morning, just before 10 p.m. last night police officers responded to the 5800 block of Spring Flower regarding a shooting. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim had been shot in the head.

The victim, whose gender has not been released, was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim's name will be released by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office. 

Police detectives have been actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the shooting. At this time, a suspect has not been identified and the motive is unknown.

UPDATE 3:55 p.m. - The victim has been identified as 36-year old Leslie Stafford who was killed outside his residence.
