February 28, 2018 |

In a postings on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram early this morning, the Elk Grove Unified School District acknowledged an unspecified threat to one of the district's schools.

The posting on Twitter said the following:

The Twitter posting did say "the intent to do harm to a school with the acronyn 'EGHS'" indicating the district's flagship high school, Elk Grove High School.

Although it cannot be independently verified,  separate postings on Twitter and Instagram indicate the following was the message of concern.

On Facebook, the district issued the following statement late last night:

This evening, District officials received information about a social media post indicating the intent to do harm to a school with the acronym "EGHS”. Local law enforcement is aware of this post. District Safety and Security officers, the Elk Grove Police Department and the Sacramento County Sheriff are investigating this threat. The originator of the post has no known residence or affiliation with Sacramento or Elk Grove.

There is no indication that this threat was directed at Elk Grove High School or any other Elk Grove Unified school and is deemed not to be credible.

The safety and security of our students and staff is our top priority and we take all threats seriously. Out of an abundance of caution, added security will be at Elk Grove High School tomorrow morning.
