Suspect Arrested on Suspicion of Robbery, Assault After Attempted Robbery of Elk Grove Walmart Shopper

An Oakland man is being held at the Sacramento County Jail on a $50,000 bail after he allegedly attacked a shopper.

According to Elk Grove Police, a shopper at the Walmart store on Elk Grove Boulevard dropped an envelope with cash while shopping, and returned to locate the cash. While standing in the cashier's line, the victim was approached by Arthur York, 61, who claimed the envelope was his property.

A brief struggle ensued during which time York allegedly attempted to choke, and then pushed the victim to the ground causing a visible injury when the victim's head hit the corner of the cashier stand. 

Responding police officers arrested York and he was booked into the county jail. Arraignment is scheduled for Friday, April 6.
