Moreno Earns Firefighters' Endorsement in Race For Cosumnes Community Services District

June 30, 2018 |

In the race between four candidates for two open seats on the Cosumnes Community Services District Board of Directors, an endorsement from firefighters, who are under the jurisdiction of the district, is crucial. In what has already been a lengthy candidacy, Jaclyn Moreno has announced she has received Sacramento Area Fire Fighters Local 522 endorsement.

Local 522 has 1,448 members who provide fire protection services in Sacramento, Elk Grove, Galt and several other districts in Sacramento County. After meeting with her on several occasions, the vice president of the Cosumnes local, which serves Elk Grove and Galt, said Moreno fit their criteria for the candidate best suited to represent members interests.

“After several meetings with Jaclyn Moreno, our firefighters feel she is the right woman for the job," Cosumnes District Vice President Chris Schamber stated. "She has a commitment to ensure that public safety is a district priority, and she understands the challenges that our fire department will face as our community grows.”

Moreno is challenging incumbent Rod Brewer as well as Jerry Braxmeyer and Koi Rivers in a district that fills the positions on an at-large basis. The filing deadline for other candidates to enter the race is August 12.

In the lead-up to the endorsement, Moreno said she has visited all district fire station and did ride alongs from Stations 71 and 74.

"I am gratified for their trust and I will work to ensure they have the equipment and resources necessary to keep the residents of our district safe,” Moreno said after receiving the endorsement.

Along with firefighters, Moreno's numerous endorsements include Elk Grove Mayor Steve Ly, former Elk Grove Mayor Gary Davis, and interestingly, one of her opponents, Rod Brewer.
