A traffic stop by Elk Grove Police led to the arrest of a Sacramento man on weapon and drug charges.
On the evening of Wednesday, May 30 police officers stopped a vehicle near Calvine Road and Elk Grove-Florin for a vehicle code violation. A consent search of a backpack of a passenger, Anthony Vasquez, 27, led to the discovery of loaded handgun with a large capacity magazine.
A record check revealed the firearm was not registered to Vasquez, and a subsequent search of the suspect revealed he was in possession of a controlled substance. Vasquez was arrested and booked into the county jail with arraignment of Friday, June 1.
