Poised to Hire New Elk Grove City Manager? Employment Discussion During Closed, Special Session

July 10, 2018 |

In a last minute posting, the Elk Grove City Clerk's office gave notice this afternoon of a special closed session meeting of the Elk Grove City Council. The meeting notice has one item - public employment/appointment for the city's vacant city manager position.

The special meeting will occur before the regularly scheduled meeting and will start at 5 p.m.

Although the city has not formally announced any plans on how they intended to fill the vacancy created when former city manager Laura Gill was dismissed in May, assist city manager Jason Behrmann has been believed to be a favored candidate. Following Gill's dismissal, Behrmann was selected to fill the position on an interim basis.

Since assuming the position on an interim basis, Behrmann has sought and received city council authorization of a major organizational change that will increase the salaries of some executive level city employees. The city council praised Behrmann's increasing salaries by establishing a new innovation department and that he brought a set of fresh eyes to city management.
