A late night stunt landed an Elk Grove teenager in juvenile hall after being taken into custody by Elk Grove Police.

According to police reports, the 13-year old male suspect was witnessed on the 6800 block of Elvora Way in the East Franklin neighborhood attempting to drive a vehicle. When the witness contacted the owners of the car, the teen was detained.

The teen was charged with vehicle code violation 10851 (a), more commonly referred to as joy riding, which can be prosecuted as a misdemeanor or a felony. After being taken into custody, the suspect was taken to juvenile hall.
