Ly continues fundraising efforts, taps out-of-state cash for Elk Grove mayor's race

September 12, 2018 |

In the competitive race for Elk Grove mayor, all three contenders continue their fundraising efforts according to recent finance disclosures.

Most notable of the three contenders - Steve Ly, Tracie Stafford, and Darren Suen - show Ly reported additional funding of $5,000 in the last week. Those reports were filed with the Elk Grove City Clerk's office on September 8 and 10.

As he has done in the past, Ly has tapped out-of-state funding sources. Of the $5,000, which came from four sources, two sources are businesses, both of which are out-of- state.

Those businesses, each of which gave Ly $1,000, were listed as David S. Blong Lee, DDS, Sheboygan, Wis., and Hmong Personal Home Care, LLC, Milwaukee, Wis.

In the past, Ly's out-of-state fundraising efforts have come under scrutiny. Most notably early in his mayoral tenure Ly was labeled a hypocrite for condemning out of area money opposing the Wilton Rancheria's proposed $400 million casino in Elk Grove while his took significant amounts of out-of-state campaign cash (video posted below).
