During the first six months of 2019, Rep. Ami Bera raised over $553,000 for his 2020 campaigns according to a recent filing with the Federal Election Commission.

Bera, who serves as the member of the U.S. Congress from California's 7th district, is seeking reelection to a fifth term. Even though the district has been considered perennially competitive, to date Bera has two challengers in the March 2020 primary - fellow Democrat Jeff Burdick, and Republican Buzz Patterson.

Through June 30, Bera received 477 donations valued at $553,387. Of that, $293,695 were individual donations and $259,692 from committees.

Bera ended the six months with a cash balance of $1.3 million.

A medical doctor by training, Bera received many of his committee contributions from health care interests. Below are some of the committees.

  • United Health Care PAC - $5,000
  • National Emergency Medicine PAC - $2,000
  • American Health Insurance PAC - $2,500
