From the Elk Grove Police Department

Selling, transporting, or using illegal fireworks is a crime. Elk Grove’s Fireworks Task Force are patrolling neighborhoods this week to enforce zero tolerance against illegal fireworks. Elk Grove Police Department, Elk Grove Code Enforcement, and Cosumnes Fire Department teams are working to help keep our community safe from injury and help prevent fires sparked by illegal fireworks.

Fireworks that DO NOT carry the State Fire Marshal’s “Safe and Sane” seal are illegal in the State of California. Illegal fireworks include sky rockets, bottle rockets, roman candles, aerial shells, firecrackers and other types that explode, go into the air, or move on the ground in an uncontrollable manner. If caught with illegal fireworks, violators will be fined up to $500 for each individual firework possessed or set off. To report illegal fireworks activity, call 916-714-5115.
