Even with last week's unveiling of it the newly rebranded civic center as District56, Elk Grove failed to be included in a just-released ranking of the best places to live in America for 2019.
The ranking was released yesterday of the annual best100 places by Money magazine. At top of the list was Clarksville, Tenn.
To determine the ranking, Money examined 80 different data points in categories including the local economy, cost of living, diversity, crime, education, housing, health and safety, amenities, and ease of living.
The ranking's methodology "looked only at places with populations of 50,000 or greater. Places with 300,000 or more people were broken down into neighborhoods, and from there we considered only neighborhoods with estimated populations between 5,000 and 200,000 people. We eliminated any place that had more than double the national crime risk, less than 85% of its state’s median household income, or a lack of ethnic diversity. This gave us 1,796 places."
Based on current statistics, it would appear that Elk Grove would be one of the 1,796 places. The ranking included the California communities of Irvine, 18; Eagle Rock, 58; and Rocklin, 86.
