The Elk Grove Water District has issued a statement about the closure of its business office, Below is the statement about the closure which is effective today.
Beginning March 17, 2020, and until further notice, the Elk Grove Water District (EGWD) will be closing its main lobby to the public due to COVID-19 virus concerns. EGWD takes the health and safety of its customers and its staff very seriously and is imposing this closure to minimize the risk of both contracting and spreading the COVID-19 virus amongst our staff and to you, our customers.
We remain available to serve you at 916-685-3556, Monday-Thursday from 7:30 am to 5:00 pm and every other Friday from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. Customers can still pay their water bills online, on site by placing their payment in the overnight drop box located to the left of the main Administrative building front door, or by calling the Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system at 916-249-8944 and following the command prompts.
EGWD’s commitment and priority is the safety of the public and its employees while maintaining a safe and reliable water supply for you and your family.
Although the water district has closed its business office, it has not said if it will suspend shutoffs. Many utilities statewide, including SMUD, have said they will suspend shutoffs for non-payments until further notice.
Elk Grove Water serves portions of the city east of Highway 99. Their regular monthly board meeting for tonight has been canceled.
