Gov. Newsom issues directive for closure of bars & drinking establishments, half-occupancy for restaurants

In a statement made this afternoon, California Gov Gavin Newsom called for home and social isolation of all senior residents of the state older than 65 years of age and those with chronic illnesses effective immediately. 

Also, Newsom issued a directive for the closure of all bars and similar drinking establishments like night clubs, wineries, and brewpubs. Newsome also issued a directive for all restaurants to limit themselves to half of their current occupancy.

Newson said the state is examining ways to assist families and business owners in the context of the state's budget.

Regarding schools, Newsom said 85-percent of students statewide will not be attending classes this coming week. The districts who have not closed, there will be detailed operational guidelines issued by Tuesday.
