Tree trimmer attacked by two assailants, Placer County Sheriff investigating as possible hate crime

A worker on a tree trimming crew in Colfax who was attacked by two men is being investigated by the Placer County Sherriff's Department as a hate crime.

According to the sheriff's department, just after 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 29 a silver pickup truck pulled up on members of the crew on Canyon Way in Colfax. Two white males exited the pickup truck and approached the foreman and berated and called him names.
One suspect eventually grabbed the victim and held his face against the tree-trimming trailer while the second suspect struck the back of the victim’s head with a pole saw, injuring him. After the attack, they departed towards Colfax.
You can see one of the suspects trying to hide the license plate in the video, as the other suspect drives away. The suspects are described as two white males, one in his mid-40’s and the other in his early 20’s.
Detectives are investigating this as a racially-motivated incident. Anyone with information are asked to call the Placer County Sherriff's Department.
