With ballots in the hands of Elk Grove voters, Mayoral candidate Bobbie-Singh Allen held a gathering this morning in their get-the-vote-out effort. Singh-Allen is challenging two-term mayor Steve Ly in what has become one of the most closely watched contests in the region.
The socially-distances gathering of supporters and volunteers in an Elk Grove neighborhood was a kick-off to the distribution of campaign literature. Campaign manager Pablo Espinoza said over the course of this weekend volunteers will be distributing door hangers.

As part of the event, Singh-Allen spoke to the group of over three dozen people on hand and thanked them for volunteering their time and offering support. Singh-Allen's complete presentation can be viewed in the first video posted below.
Along with comments from the candidate, supporters on hand as well as other made audio appearances. The first speaker, who appeared via audio, was Rep. Ami Bera, who represents California's Seventh Congressional District and has endorsed Singh-Allen.
In past Elk Grove elections, Bera has rarely offered endorsements. During her comments, Singh-Allen said Bera was among the first to encourage her candidacy for Elk Grove Mayor.
In-person speakers included Cosumnes Community Services District Director Rob Brewer, Teamsters Local 150 representative Matt Androkowitz, and Chris Schamber of the Sacramento Area Firefighters Local 522 (see the second video below). These speakers, as well as other individuals and organizations, are among Singh-Allen's roster of endorsements.
The last guest speaker of the event was Jenny Bach, California Democratic Party Secretary who reminded the audience via audio appearance that Ly's endorsement by the Democratic Party of Sacramento had been rescinded. Singh-Allen and Ly are both members of the Democratic Party.
Other supporters in attendance included Cosumnes Community Services District Director Jaclyn Moreno, Elk Grove Planning Commissioner McKenzie Weiser, and Elk Grove Unified School District candidate Bobby Roy.
