Victim hospitalized in Elk Grove shooting, suicide



An early morning shooting incident in Elk Grove left one person hospitalized and another deceased in what police characterized as a shooting suicide.

According to Elk Grove Police, officers responded to a  reported shooting at 3:45 a.m. today on the 10200 block of E. Taron Drive. Reportedly a male and female who were known to each other were arguing when the male shot the female then turned the gun on himself.   

The victim was taken to a hospital for non-life-threatening gunshot injuries and the male was pronounced dead at the scene. The identity of the shooter will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner. 

Police said they do not expect to release any further information regarding the incident.
