One of the four candidates who competed in the June primary for the District 5 seat on the Sacramento County Board of Supervisors announced their endorsement today.
In today's Twitter announcement, Cosumnes Community Services District Director and District 5 candidate Jaclyn Moreno announced fellow Democrat Alex Joe has endorsed her candidacy. Joe finished in fourth place and earned 4,250 votes for six percent.
"There are few fundamental changes needed more for Sacramento County than the encouragement of cooperative decision-making towards resolving human suffering and the creation of diverse business opportunities, "Joe said in his endorsement announcement. "I believe Jaclyn will best address these."
On a precinct basis, Joe consistently drew between five to eight percent of the vote. The one precinct in the district where he broke double digits was in Elk Grove, where he pulled over 10 percent.
In that precinct, Republican Elk Grove City Councilmember earned 45 percent, Moreno had 28, and former Elk Grove Mayor Steve Ly, who ran as an independent, captured 16.
Undoubtedly a welcome development for Moreno, the bigger pot of votes for her and Hume, who will face off in November, are those who supported Ly. The former Elk Grove City Councilmember and Mayor have acrimonious relations with both and is unlikely to endorse either.
Hume earned 42 percent of the primary vote, and Moreno had 32.

Looks like someone was in the Supervisor race for the purpose of dividing the votes. Convince me it isn't so.
