Elk Grove voters to select between incumbent, challenger for SMUD Ward 4

Among the several competitive races on Elk Grove voters’ ballots is the contest for Sacramento Municipal Utility District Ward 4. Although the State Senate, Assembly, and Elk Grove-based races are far more visible, the Ward 4 race appears competitive.
The candidates are one-term incumbent Rosanna Herber and challenger Derek Cressman. Both have sent at least one mailer to Ward 4 voters.
Herber successfully ran as part of former Elk Grove Mayor Steve Ly’s 2018 coalition and has secured several key endorsements. Among them are the Sacramento County Democratic Party, all current SMDU board members, and former SMUD Director and California Public Utilities Commissioner Genevieve Shiroma.
Cressman lists several Elk Grove and Sacramento neighborhood endorsers on his mailer and website. The mailer received in Elk Grove can be viewed below.
So that Elk Grove voters can learn more about each candidate, Elk Grove News has invited Cressman and Heber to provide a recorded message about their candidacies. The Herber campaign has accepted the invitation, and we are awaiting a response from Cressman.
Ward 4 includes most of Elk Grove, parts of Sacramento, and unincorporated areas of South Sacramento County.
