As California is pummeled by a winter storm, 5 years ago today Sacramento was hit with a significant hailstorm

Over the last couple of days, all of California has experienced a significant winter storm. Along with high winds, snow has fallen in areas where it rarely happens.

In the Sacramento area, there were reports of snowfall in places like Folsom. Along with gusty winds, there have also been scattered hailstorms over the last few days.

Five years ago today, there was a significant hailstorm in Sacramento, as seen in this video recorded just north of downtown. While not snow, the hail accumulation was significant enough to cover the ground and stay for about an hour.

With near-freezing overnight temperatures and gusty winds forecast in Elk Grove for the coming days, the weather could bring some surprises.
