Combining fatherly advice, empathy, and tough love, the owner of a popular Elk Grove Bar also warned an Elk Grove City Council member.
That advice was given by Allan Veto, the owner of Bob's Bar in Old Town Elk Grove, to City Councilmember Sergio Robles. On Saturday, May 20, Robles was arrested by Elk Grove Police for drunk driving after he was found passed out in a running vehicle in the Raley's parking lot on Elk Grove Boulevard.
Videos on social media showed Robles at the AAPI Night market on the evening of Friday, May 19. People attending the event report Robles was given a VIP pass with unlimited free alcoholic drinks (see second video below).
Veto offered empathy to Robles, saying people make mistakes and that he should learn to rebuild the community's trust. However, he also provided stern advice to the 30-year-old.
"You got to quit drinking, is what I think you got to do," the experienced bar owner said.
During his explanation of his arrest, Robles did not say he was willing to moderate or adjust his drinking habits which are now well documented.

Okay, when a bar owner tells you that "you need to quit drinking," it's time to admit you have a problem. Everyone else can see it and a bar owner, who has a vested and monetary interest in selling alcohol, states it in public against his own interest, it cannot be ignored. Get yourself into a rehab. Quit putting the citizens of this community at risk with your careless acts of ignorance and self indulgence. And no, you weren't cited, you were ARRESTED, booked, fingerprinted and placed in jail for your act(s).
